Jose Fabella Memorial School – National Training School for Girls celebrated the Science Month 2016 which carried the theme, “AGRINNOVATE: Revolutionizing Agricultural Outlook for Sustainable Growth” to rekindle the interest of students in agriculture and to raise awareness on its current situation in the country held from September 7-28, 2016 in DSWD-Marillac Hills
JFMS teachers, students and staff of Marillac Hills spearheaded the kick off activity wherein participants paraded their creative and colorful banners. It highlighted the importance of four sectors of Agriculture to the lives of ordinary Filipino people and to the economy of the Philippines. Afterwards, Clean Up Drive was conducted in the school premise.
Further, elementary pupils and junior high school students have competed for Poster and Slogan Making. With their brilliant mind, creative hands and wonderful art materials they have composed awesome slogan and powerful poster related to the theme. They also actively participated in the Mosquito Trap Making, T-Shirt Dying, Hugot Agham, Family Feud and Amazing Science Race.
Meanwhile, the highlights of the culminating program were Sci-Yawit and Eco-Fashionista 2016. Sci-yawit is a jingle composed and dance choreographed by every grade level relevant to the theme. On the other hand, Eco-Fashionista is creating fashionable dress composed of recycled materials. Students, teachers, houseparents and staff of Marillac Hills worked together to make the event successful.
September has been designated as “Science Month” as mandated by Proclamation 264 signed by former President Gloria Macapagal- Arroyo. This celebration also emphasized the importance of establishing science clubbing movement and network as a significant tool to encourage and inspire the youth and students to pursue careers in science and technology. ### (FO-NCR/Social Marketing Office/ Lida L.
