For the second leg of information caravan being conducted by DSWD, services were offered to the residents of Barangay 105, Manila in coordination with barangay officials, other National Government Agencies (NGAs) and Non-Government Organization (NGO) on December 17, 2016.
Among the services availed by the residents are the free massage and haircut by the graduates of Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), medical and dental mission with provision of medicines courtesy of Department of Health (DOH) and Diskwento Caravan organized by Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
Tzu Chi Foundation also distributed 20 kilograms of rice to 200 identified recipients wherein 50 of them are beneficiaries of Pantawid Pamilya while 150 were non-beneficiaries and who were selected with the help of the barangay officials.
Meanwhile, DSWD social workers manned the help desk where prospective clients filed their inquiries about DSWD programs and services.
While the activity is ongoing, some DSWD staff went to Isla Puting Bato in Barangay 20, Tondo Manila to inform the residents about the programs and services of the Department which they can avail as long that they will present the proofs that they are genuinely in-need clients.
The information drive in Isla Puting Bato was made through dialogue with the residents and distribution of leaflets that contains salient information regarding DSWD programs.
The first conduct of the information caravan was on November 12, 2016 at Plaza Miranda in Quiapo Manila wherein the passersby and market vendors were provided with leaflets and information.###
