Staff and officials of DSWD-NCR led by Director Vincent Andrew T. Leyson assisted the devotees of the recent Traslacion of the Black Nazarene starting from the “Pahalik” on January 8, 2017 until the actual conduct of the procession on January 9 which was being participated by millions of people.
A total of 42 DSWD personnel were deployed during the activity wherein four (4) persons who need medical attentions were given assistance through the aid of the Department’s medical team while 11 minors, three (3) adults and three (3) senior citizens who were reported as missing were fortunately reunited with their respective families.
Likewise, a 71 year-old street dweller was reached-out during the activity and was later referred to GRACES. One (1) adult female who is mentally ill was also referred to National Center for Mental Health in Mandaluyong City for proper case disposition.
As part of its mandate in providing assistance to public in case of disaster/emergency situation and as committed member of the Metro Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, DSWD-NCR will continuously deliver genuine public service during the conduct of the alike activities.###
