Herbalife Philippines organized their 3rd Children’s Christmas Charity Football Cup last December 10, 2017 at the EGV Football Field. There were four institutions invited to take part in this event which include, Tuloy sa Don Bosco, SOS Children’s Village, Elsie Gaches Village and Nayon ng Kabataan. The teams will be competing for the revolving trophy and a gift certificate for the winner’s sports development program.
In the opening ceremony, Mr. Darwin Enaracia, Marketing Manager of Herbalife Philippines, warmly welcomed the participants. Mr. Hayden Sison, the head organizer, officially declared the Charity Football Cup open. He also reminded the athletes to play tough but not rough in this game.
The game was an 11-a-side, 40-minute game for all the teams with a round robin system for the elimination matches. Nayon ng Kabataan met the SOS Children’s Village on the first game with a score of 3-1. The second game was between Tuloy sa Don Bosco and Elsie Gaches Village and ended with a score of 3-0. The game was a shared hardship of each player from Elsie Gaches Village. With the aid of two players from Mandawe City and Michael Jordan contributed their strength in the offense, while Jojo Limbaga, goalie, and Kennet Dorende, defender, strengthened the defense.
The final game was between Elsie Gaches Village and SOS Children’s Village ended with a score of 5-4, declaring the SOS Children’s Village as the champions of the Charity Football Cup and Elsie Gaches Village being named as the 2nd place winners.
Elsie Gaches Village received medals and a certificate with an additional gift certificate worth Php 40,000.00 for their sports development program. Nayon ng Kabataan received the same with Php 20,000.00 for their sports development program. The champions of the Charity Football Cup – SOS Children’s Village received medals, a certificate, a revolving trophy and a gift certificate worth Php 50, 000.00 for their sports development program.
It was a big milestone for God’s Special Children of Elsie Gaches Village to have a friendly competition among the children from other centers. In their condition with special needs, playing with a professional number of players in a football field was a learning experience for them which not only boosted their self-esteem but also the morale of each resident. ###
