Persons with disabilities (PWDs) have the right to avail health care services without any discrimination. To break gaps between our persons with disabilities and the need to access medical services, there is a need to create an opportunity for them to avail quality healthcare and build a relationship through missionary works by means of providing necessary aid.

On 18th day of March 2024, the Rehabilitation Sheltered Workshop (RSW) conducted a Medical and Dental Mission at the RSW Compound. The RSW was chosen as the beneficiary of the dental and medical mission of the Victoriano Luna Medical Center and the Command Officers of Arm Forces of the Philippines Health Service Purple Serpent Square and Compass Inc. (AFPHSC PSSACCI) who offered their expertise to conduct free medical consultation and dental services to our respective beneficiaries. The medical service included are medical check-up, vital signs, physical examination and diagnosis while for the dental service includes fluoride application and tooth extraction. The program includes provision of free medicines for those who have prescriptions and free reading glasses.

Aside from the health care services, a private non-stock and non-profit organization and duly SEC registered foundation – the Center for Empowerment Seminars and Workshops Inc. (CESWI) joins in giving away food packs for all the clients as well as the staff of RSW and NVRC.

Also, the RSW management requested for an augmentation from the Crisis Intervention Section (CIS) of DSWD-NCR for disbursement of medical assistance and the provision of food packs, while coffee supply were coursed through from the Disaster Response Management Division (DRMD), this made it a blessed day to all our beneficiaries!

The difficulty in having an access to healthcare is often a challenge for our persons with disabilities. This is why we seek ways in addressing immediate health concerns of those who lack financial capacity to avail medical care. Through this missionary act, we also foster solidarity among our clients. The activity also served as a reminder of the significance of working collaboratively for the betterment of our beneficiaries.
