In its efforts to partner with multi-stakeholders for the Oplan Balik Bahay Sagip Buhay, the Department of Social Welfare and Development – National Capital Region (DSWD-NCR) conducted consultation meeting with the private sectors and local businesses in Quezon City and Manila to help address the prevalence of street dwellers in major thoroughfares, particularly in the said cities, held on August 26-27, 2015 at Ramada Manila Central.
The OBBSB, through the Modified Conditional Cash Transfer for Homeless Street Families (MCCT-HSF), provides interventions to children of street dwellers such as education, health and financial assistance for house rental and livelihood assistance to eventually help them sustain their house rentals.
DSWD-NCR Regional Director Ms. Ma Alicia Bonoan is confident that the objective of the project can be achieved through a multi-stakeholder approach to include assistance from the business and private sectors. She said, “No one agency can address the concern of street dwelling. If we work together, one day, we will be waking up to a city that has no more street families and children.” ###
