Pantawid Pamilya program beneficiaries, residents of DSWD-NCR’s Sanctuary Center and Jose Fabella Center enjoyed the free chiropratic and acupuncture services provided by Dra. Chaterine Luib and Dr. Jacques Charles of Luib  Health Center based in California, USA, recently.

Department of Social Welfare and Development – National Capital Region (DSWD-NCR) Regional Director Ma. Alicia S. Bonoan appreciated the partnership and support of two (2) doctors in sharing their medical expertist to people in need.

During the activity, Dr. Charles shared that chiropractic is a form of alternative medicine that focuses on diagnosis and treatment of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, especially the spine. However, acupuncture involves inserting thin needles into the body at acupuncture points. It is commonly used for pain relief.

“Masarap po sa pakiramdam. Parang nawala agad yung kirot na nararamdaman ko sa bandang likod. Salamat po sa mga doctor na nagbigay sa amin ng serbisyo,” expressed Angela Tuvello, Pantawid beneficiary in Mandaluyong City. Her two siblings namely, Angel Rose and Aejay also availed the said services.

Further, aside from the said health services, the volunteers also gave advice to their patients on how to improve their health.

“Sabi po ni Dra. Luib, kailangan ko daw pong kumain ng mga masusustansyang pagkain, lalo na po ung mayaman sa protina. Inom din daw po ako ng maraming tubig at iwasan ang pag-inom ng soda. Salamat po sa paalala. Pananatilihin ko pong malusog ang aking pamilya,” Candy, another Pantawid Pamilya beneficiary enthused.

 

This three-day activity benefitted a total of 172 individuals which include Pantawid Pamilya program beneficiaries in Mandaluyong City, residents and staff Sanctuary Center and Jose Fabella Center. ###
